Health & Wellbeing

The health and wellbeing of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us. Since 2013 we have been the lead school on Merseyside for Health and Wellbeing and we were voted 'Outstanding School: Health and Wellbeing' at the National Youth Sport Trust Awards in March 2016. This accolade is thanks to a collective effort across our school community. We believe passionately in the following:

Bikes
Football
Wheelchairs

  • Collaboration: This is why we established, in 2014 the Healthy Futures Network, in partnership with the NHS, The University of Chester and 8 Secondary Schools across the North West of England

  • Student Voice: This is why, each year we ask our students to complete a comprehensive survey called 'Fit to Succeed' designed and administered by the Schools and Students Health Education Unit (SHEU)

  • Health and Wellbeing is EVERYBODY'S business!! We are rightly very proud of the work of our PE department in increasing activity levels amongst our students BUT we recognise the role that everyone in our school community and beyond plays in improving health and wellbeing. Our Health and Wellbeing Steering Group use the results of the Fit to Succeed Survey to plan, implement and review interventions and activities that we know are needed to create a happy, healthy community. We've got a long way to go!! We hope you will agree to join us on this journey!

  • Personal Best: We believe that we can all make small changes in our lifestyle that can improve our health and wellbeing. Our students are encouraged to be 'better than yesterday' rather than 'better than the person next to you.'
