Congratulations to all our students, and their teachers, whose hard work has led once again to significantly improved results in all areas. Head Teacher Catherine Kelly said... "The introduction of new examinations has not phased our students and they have performed brilliantly. Results in maths have risen by half a grade per student and over half of all students have achieved good passes in both English and maths".
Bebington High has really risen to the challenge of the push towards more academic GCSE subjects in the curriculum with almost twice as many GCSEs in sciences and increased numbers sitting geography, history and Spanish too. This year nearly a quarter of students have achieved the EBacc threshold, which is the accolade for achieving good results in English, maths, science, humanities and languages. Across all GCSE there was a 3% increase in good grades and results in art, history and PE were outstanding.
We also continued to perform very strongly with our vocational courses and students have exceeded expectations across the board in animal care, health and social care, construction and sport, with a third of students achieving top grades in health and sport.
There were some excellent individual results with a quarter of students achieving 10 or more good grades. Of particular note were Nathan Ormond with 6 results at the equivalent of A*, and Rizban Ahmed with the equivalent of 7 grade As.
Catherine Kelly said this is just the start of the school's improvement journey. Our A Level results were outstanding and these GCSE outcomes show a massive improvement on previous years. The new processes we have put in place to track student progress and intervene quickly when a student goes off target has obviously paid off. I am so very proud of our young people and of my staff who have worked relentlessly to support our students. We have great hopes for the forthcoming year."
